What Do You Like About Your Church????

My family and I love the church we are at now. Kerrville Church of Christ is wonderful. Why? The people are extremely friendly, caring and loving. The elders take care of the flock. The worship experiences on Sunday mornings are powerful, moving and spirit filled. It is wonderful now to be able to sit with my family on Sunday mornings and get fed myself. It is great being apart of a small group that meets and prays together. I am looking forward to the ministry fair coming up in a few weeks to see where I can get involved and make a difference.

So, what is it that you like about the church you are at now? What would you change? What are you doing to make a difference at the church you are at now? What can you do? What will you do?

How Christians Should Behave During This Political Climate

I am neither republican or democrat and am not going to discuss political issues or my views on healthcare but rather want to challenge us to see how Christ wants us to behave as Christians when faced with the political culture. How should we act? Should we shout, yell, call our government leaders names? I think it is important to understand that scripture stresses that our government leaders whether it be the President, Senetors, or others officals are in the positions they are because of God and His will. Paul stresses this in his letters and tells us how to treat those in authority. Christlike. We should be Christlike in all aspects of our life. Paul tells us in 1st Timothy 2:1-ff, "The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for every one you know. Pray especially for rulers and their goverments to rule well so we can be quietly about the business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live." We should pray. Pray for our President and goverment. Pray for our leaders to make the right decissions. We need not forget that prayer is powerful and our God listens to all of our requests when we pray with the right heart. Jesus, Paul, Peter, and John remind us to not get to comfortable in this world but to live as aliens, strangers, remembering we have an eternal Kingdom not made by human hands. For those of you who are Americans I am sure that you agree with me that you are glad to be here and now. I don't know about tomorrow but, "This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!" Jesus words challenge me everyday to "Love my neighbor as myself." Who is my neighbor? Is it republicans? Democrats? Homosexuals? Muslims? Athiests? Yes. Jesus words. "LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." During this political climate are we loving our neighbors as ourselves? Do we see it? Are we living it?
