Thanks Bob for the video link of Matt Redman's song "Blessed Be the name of the Lord". No doubt Matt Redman is a good singer and musician, but he could be singing about Allah to a Muslim or Buddha to Buddhist etc. Maybe I am being a bit critical but I am disappointed when I hear a Christian singing about their God but not declaring His name, Jesus. There are many Lords & gods but only one true God, Jesus.
It would have been better to sing; 'Blessed be the Name of the Lord JESUS', since the Name of God is 'JESUS', and the Name of the Lord is 'JESUS' and there is no other Name than JESUS. By saying and proclaiming His Name (JESUS), we are blessing and glorifying the only true God and His Name. Sadly; most songs have removed, or don't mention God's wonderful Name (JESUS). Perhaps they might be ashamed of His Name, or never have come to know Him personally. Paul
Thanks, Bob, for sharing "Blessed Be Your Name." My youth group sang that song days after a 14 year old in our youth group passed away in a tornado. We all broke down sobbing from the power of the words. I think my fave song right now is "How Great Is Our God." Chris Tomlin is an incredible songwriter and this one (in my opinion) is destined to become a staple in churches!
I was born and raised in Abilene, Tx.
Graduated from Abilene High.
Woodlawn Church of Christ is my home congregation, where my dad serves as an elder.
I am a graduate of Lubbock Christian University.
I have a wonderful loving wife and boys who are the greatest blessing and joy in my life.
My favorite scripture is:
1 Timothy 4:12 "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young but set an example to the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity." GBS

I think that my favorite is a song by Matt Redman. You can catch the video here. The words go like this:
Blessed Be Your Name
Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name
Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name
Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name
You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name
"Before the Throne of God Above" is one I am singing a lot this week. "Mighty to Save" is another favourite.
