Would Jesus Himself Like What Christianity Has Become?

I often wonder if Jesus would like what Christianity has become. Do think his followers have made Christianity into something he would be ashamed of? You see especially in america today that Christianity has become against so many things. It has for the most part become a religion of "anti's". Anti-science, anti-birth control, anti-femenism, anti homosexual, anti-democrat, and on and on and on...Is this what Jesus wanted Christianity to be? Did Jesus want Christianity to become a religion of conformity to a polical or social ideology? Are believers today forgetting what Christianity is about? Have Christians made it into a turn off for the world and others? Is there anything believers can do to refocus Christianity on Christ and what He thinks?

I also think that Jesus would be troubled by the thought of his followers focusing on an assembly one day a week as the center of their religion. What is done and not done, who is there and who isn't comes to define who we are as a people.

And that has so little to do with what Jesus lived and taught.

Grace and peace,

Yep! Tri-God..I'm thinking- shouldn't we be about seeking,finding,restoring..the lost; There's more joy in heaven over one who needs repentance than 99 that don't need repentance. Now that's perspective-God's

I posted something but it got erased...twice. Here was my point. It has always been this way. This was true of Judaism in Jesus' day...some things they got right and other things they messed up. They just have different things on the list than we do. Jesus loved some things and was upset by others. But he still loved those who were seeking him.

I think Jesus will always be in love with his bride.

Probably not too happy about how we Christianized the Jewish religion instead of embracing something entirely different.

I think Matt's right, that there would be some things JEsus embraced and some things he would readily reject. I think the big problem is trying to figure out which reaction he would have to which elements! I don't know that a lot of first century Jews really had it pegged down.

that said, we do have the enormous benefit of being able to see the kinds of things that pulled his trigger the first time around! Arrogance, judgmentalism, greed, and surface morality all felt his sting, and I'm sure would again today. But what else would he attack? I almost think that answer would be so hyper-local that it's difficult to generalize.

I think He would be glad when we are anti-sin, and would be deeply disappointed when we are anti-sinner. We sinners are the folks He died to put right with God, and we have developed a knack for forgetting that.

When we do, we come off as self-righteous, judgmental, condemning and unChristian.

Because we are.

I agree with Matt and want to add to his comment. Christianity was, is and will be a path to humanity's reconciliation with our Creator. Jesus knows that we are going to get things wrong, but as Matt said, "Jesus still loves his Bride."

Jesus simply wants everyone to be for Him, believe only in Him, do what He said, and then we are the blessed and the beloved of God.
All His children hear His voice, agree with Him and do what is right in His sight!

But Christianity is a religious order who does what is right in their own eyes and wants to get the approval and sanction from God for their sins, perversions and unbelief and then they form churches, denominations and creeds in the name of Christianity.

For this reason now we have Christian-science, Christian-homosexuals, Christian-feminists, Christian-democrats, Christian- evolutionists, Christian liberalists, Christian- adulterers, liars, thieves and whatever other Christian stuff there is.

Do you think Jesus is impressed with all that Christian stuff?
The wrath of God is against all Christian idolatry and they will not go unpunished.

Jesus Christ is building His Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it. His Church is His bride and joy, spotless and without wrinkle, they are unblemished and do not compromise and participate in the deeds of the Christian-world.
They love the Lord Jesus with all their heart, mind, soul and strength and are truly His disciples who abhor everything which opposes the knowledge of God and His ways and instructions.
Paul

I think so. For a variety of reasons. We created a separate religion when "Christianity" was initially a branch of Judaism. Plus I think he would definitely be disappointed in how the church looks down up the Torah and the rest of the Old Testament which was HIS bible. Jesus lived and breathed Torah and yet most believers see it as antiquated worthless history. Not to mention the fact that, as some say, Christianity has become very Pauline.

However, despite all that I think he would recognize the good that has been done in his name.
