Thoughts on Faith Part 4!

Why do you believe in God? What benefits have you seen in believing? What if you put your faith in God only to find out that he never existed, just a myth like Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny? Can we know for sure that there is a God? How? Can you prove God exists? Should we try? If God does exist, does God want Christians to prove His existance? Why or Why not?
What do you think?

Then Moses said to God, "If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I AM WHO i AM."

I am actually writing a blog post on this. I think God gives a good answer to the question.

Kinney,
even an Atheist can prove God exist.

The Bible itself should be enough to prove God's existence.

For example, just one aspect of the Bible; say, the prophecies for Asyrian and Babalonian conquest, for example.

If one person wrote the Bible, it would be very difficult for this one person to align and orchastrate historical events. Begin with Genesis, point to types and ant-types from prophecy and prophetic fulfillment and arrive at the very real historical account (not that the rest of the Bible is non-historical. But, for the purposes of this excercise, let's hypothetically disqualify previous history.)of the Assyrian and Babalonian conquest. These ocurred 70 years apart. How would a man be able to write in advance of the Babalonian conquest, indicating what tribes would be taken into Babylonian and Assyrian conquest, to make it fit his previous "ficticious" writing of Jeremiah 25 which predicted the Babylonian conquest. And, it predicted the Babylonians would suffer a judgement at the end of that conquest, 70 years?

No way! Someone may say, the Bible was written by man. O.k.,
Well, there is still the problem of orchestrating real events. Over periods of time no man would be alive to see the coming and going of. Even if one man told the story of Adam and Eve and created a fabulously orchestrated account of the Bible up to the Babylonian conquest, that man, in 70 years will still not be alive to tell anyone how the next historical event proven by records in archaeological digs.

I understand what I'm saying. I probably could have stated it in fewer words.

"The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit." - Jesus

So it is with God and God's kingdom on Earth. Just my thoughts.

I hope things are going well Bro!

Preacherman;
You said, "Can we know for sure that God exists?"

I think that everyone knows that God exists.

(Rom. 1:19-22 NASB) "Because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God has made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they new God, they did not honor Him as God, or give thanks; but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools."

Here we can see that God has made it evident that He exists! They don't have an excuse.
As we look around us, we see thousands of Churches, denominations, Temples, Synagogues and shrines. Each one of them believes and put their faith in their god whoever that might be, some in Jehovah, some in Allah, some in their three-person gods, some in Buddha, Yahweh and many more.
But the greatest question remains; IN WHOM do YOU put your faith in??

(Hebr. 11:1) "Now faith is the evidence of things not seen."

Since we cannot see any of their gods, surely we must see the evidence of what their god can do and does in the lives of those who believe.
Or a little bit closer to home.
Can you see any evidence in your life? Or, is there any power of God manifested in your life?
When you are in great trouble and distress, does your God come quickly to your aid and rescue you out of all your distress?
If sickness and disease devour your body, does your God come quickly to heal all your of your diseases?
Do the wind and the rain obey your command in the name of your God?
When you call upon the name of your God, does he hear your call?
Does your God speak to you?
Or is he deaf, mute and impotent?

IF there is NO evidence in your life, then surely you should ask yourself whether you believe and have faith in the right God.
What is the point in believing in a god who never does anything for you?
I recommend you to turn away from such useless gods and come to the ONLY TRUE God Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
He is the one who heals the sick, gives sight to the blind, cleanses the lepers, resurrects the dead, Calms the storms, and forgives their sins and gives them life and life abundant to this very day and for ever more.

IF you come to JESUS, then you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the general assembly and church of the first-born who are enrolled in heaven and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.
Lots of love
Paul

Additional comment;
Have we ever thought, that when we tell our children, that if they believe and have faith in Santa Claus and behave themselves, that Santa will bring them a present at Christmas.

To them that is the good news, because Santa will always deliver their presents every Christmas.

Those children who see, that we never get anything from our God, they surely will never believe in our God because they know which God pays better.

God wants our relationship with Him to be one of faith. That's why, even though we are called for jury duty on the question of His existence, He only admits circumstantial evidence.

You can't prove or disprove His existence. Should we try? As long as we are willing to accept the limitation He has put on the evidence.

Remember the people standing around who had just heard the voice of God confirm His Son's blessing in John 12:29. They all heard it. Some decided they heard thunder; others, the voice of an angel. Same evidence. Different conclusions.

Ultimately, we all believe what we want to believe.

Which just prompts a great question for "Thoughts on Faith Part 5":

What kind of God do we believe in and what does that say about us?

Keith Brenton;
Yes Keith, God really wants our relationship with Him to be one of faith.

But you failed to tell us 'WHICH GOD'?

Which God wants us to have a relationship with Him?

The Buddhists say it is Buddha, the Jews say it is Yahweh, the Moslem say it is Allah, the Jehovah Witnesses say it is Jehovah and the Catholics and Universalist say it is their Siamese triplet gods etc.

Sadly, it is just as you have said, that "Ultimately we all believe what we want believe."

Personally, I don't think that I have the right to believe what I want to believe.
If I would, then I would perish with the rest of them that do.

Keith you said;
"You can't prove or disprove His existence."
Certainly, I can prove that God exists and I can do better than that.

To prove that God exists; Easy!

Look around you, whatever you see, the computer, the mouse, the speakers, the tea cup, table and chairs, and everything that you can see had a maker (human) with a creative imagination, and hands to make it.
All that did not come through millions of years into being, or evolved into a table etc.

The proof that Leonardo Da Vinci existed is in that which he has made, like the painting of Mona Lisa and his sculptures etc.
Because Leonardo is dead, therefore it is impossible for you to meet him.

The proof that God exists is right in front of me.
Perhaps one of thousands of proofs!
The peacock feather; just one eye among many eyes in the tail feathers, has one stem and from it, to the left and to the right are about ten centimeters long hair like strings or cords tightly set together.
To form an eye shape just with the color variation in each one of the hairs, would be impossible accidentally through millions of years form an eye.
Each hair changes the colors at exact spacing to form an eye, the colors are from brown to strong bright green to brown to light blue and the center dark navy blue, then back again to light blue to brown to strong bright green and then brown towards the tip.

This is the proof that God exists, so that the whole world is without excuse.

I have said that I can do better than that.

I can lead you and everyone who is hungry, weary and tired of empty religions with ever changing doctrines of no substance to personally meet the living God Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Yes, He has died for our sins, but death could not hold Him in the grave and He rose on the third day, and He is alive forever more. Because He is alive the door is open wide for every sinner to meet the living God Jesus Christ NOW and not when you have died.

To day is the day you need to meet the living God, do not harden your heart as those who did in the wilderness.

It is one way to know ABOUT God and another way to KNOW God.
By reading the Bible, you will know all about God, but you will not know God.
The only way to meet the Lord is to come to Him just as you are.

A short testimony how I met the Lord my God Jesus Christ;
As I was looking intensively at a beautiful butterfly and thought that it was impossible to evolve through millions of years out of an accident into such a complex creature
I knew, that there had to be someone greater.
But who was He, and who has that kind of capability to create or make such a complex creature?

If He is that good, whoever that God is, to make the butterfly, lion, zebra, giraffe etc. then He surely must be able to show Himself to me.
I know that it could not be a power or energy, it had to be a person, since only persons can make and design things.
A long story short;
Some Christians told me to call on the Name of the Lord to show Himself to me, or make Himself known to me.

At that time I met my maker, the creator of heaven and earth and I was a changed man, born again a brand new man, old things have passed away and everything is new.
My wonderful Jesus did the things in me and with me I never thought or dreamed that it could be possible.
Everything the Scripture speaks about became experience to me and not just theories in a book, even when Jesus said that "the Father and I will come and make our abode in you" (John 14:23). To experience that is better than silver and gold.
Remember that every man gives everything for the Pearl of great price and that is our wonderful Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Keith, if you like to have your socks blown off, then dare to call on the name of Jesus.
You surely will meet the God of Revelation Jesus Christ.

Laymond;
When you call upon the name of Jehovah, he surely cannot hear you, because he is not the resurrection and the life and neither can he save. But whosoever shall call on the name of Jesus will be saved.
Again lots of love
Paul

Subjective, circumstantial evidence, my friend Paul.

Doesn't blow my socks off; sorry.

Would be curious how you came to the conclusion that Jehovah is Satan. That Jesus only is God and Spirit. That He therefore fathered Himself. Spoke to Himself while praying on this earth.

Clearly, scripture in the whole controverts your contention past the point of debate.

Keith Brenton;
Since there is only ONE God and any other god is a false god and Satan is that false god.
(Rom. 9:5) It is Jesus Christ who is God over all and NOT Jehovah.

The point of debate is;
Who is that God you worship?
In which God do you have faith?
If you have faith in the wrong God, then your faith is useless and profits you nothing.

No, you cannot serve two masters Jesus and that other god Jehovah.
