It's My Spiritual Birthday

I become a Christian on August 3, 1986. I am 21 years old in Christ. I am going to celebrate today by reading and feasting on His word, being with my family, praying and giving God thanks for all that He has done throughout all the many years. Do you remember the day you became a Christian? Who was there? What it was like? Do you celebrate the day you were born again?

What do you think?

This is a wonderful idea!

I would have to look in my Bible to see when mine is and Frankie's. I know I was 12 and Frankie was 24 years old.

I hope you have a GREAT day today in the Lord's presence!

What a great idea! I don't think we put enough emphasis on our spiritual birthdays. Like Jennifer, mine is written in my bible. I remember the age I was, but it's hard for me to remember the actual date without looking it up. I do remember however the people who were there and even things that were said. It was a great day!

Our spiritual birthday is a great day in our lives. We should celebrate it more! Thanks for sharing and Happy Birthday!!!

Congrats...

July 3, 1977. I was 11 years old, the invitation song with "God is calling the Prodigal" and I was wearing a green leisure suit, which was very popular back then.

I remember well. :)

I was baptized April 19, 1976, after the Monday night session of a gospel meeting. Andrew Connally was the speaker. I doubt anyone here remembers him, but he was a famous missionary in Africa, and a very large man (at least 6'8" as I recall). I still remember a phrase that he used throughout his sermon: "If not, why not?" However, I had already made my decision before arriving at church that night.

Kinney, I was born from above on September 23, 1973. I'm 34 years old in the faith. I was 21 years old in the body at the time of my baptism. My wife usually reminds our kids of their spiritual birthday.

Happy Birthday! I was baptized on July 3, 1994, at about 11 years of age. I do remember the day, it was very, very late in the evening at Camp Kurios, down in southern Arkansas. My dad baptized me, and my family, some friends, and youth minister were all there! Although I always remember it whenever it rolls around, I don't often celebrate it...perhaps I should start though!

I want to thank everyone for the Spiritual Birthday wishes. I had a great day.
I think it is important for us if we don't remember the date of when we where saved to at least once a year take time and remember the event, focus on how we have grown, and set aside a day to celebate our commitment.
As a youth minister one of the things we did when someone was baptized, when they come down from the baptistry we would sing happy birthdy and have a birthday cake for them. We would also give them a Bible. I thought that could be an idea for some of you ministers or youth ministers who read my blog.
I think as a congregation and Christians we should celebrate and be excited when somone gives their life to Christ. It should be a joyous occussion. I am glad that in my parents Church they now shout amen, clap and sing songs of praises to God when the person come up out of the water.
Again thanks you so much for you thoughts and well wishes today. It has been a very great day. God is so good.
