The Double Standards in Churches #2

Do Churches have double standards when it comes to equipping members to ministry? Do some churches prohibit, limit or squash the talents and gifts of other based on gender, race or socioeconomic status? What happens within the body of Christ when people are guilt ed, prohibited from using the talents that God has given? Does the body suffer? How? Have you personally seen this within the Church? What can be done to equip all members to ministry despite gender, race, socioeconomic statues differences? What is your church doing? Is there a way to get rid of the double standard that says you can do or be anything you want, except church?

What do you think?

A wonderful Chrisitan friend (who just happens to amoke) has been asked to leave the worship team (and has subsequently left the church) and may not play at home cell either! BUT. someone who smokes, drinks, is divorced (and has purple hair!) may lead the youth!!! Hello... sometning is serious wrong here, or what? Talk about double standards. I battle to understand this.
Please help!
