Spiritual Birthday
There are many events in life that we definitely remember and celebrate. I love those days in which we get together with friends, family and celebrate a time or event that happened in our life. Some of those events are of course birthdays, weddings, finding a job, buying your first house.
In a spiritual sense I think we should celebrate special spiritual events. I think of course of Christmas and Easter. What about the day you gave your life to Christ? Should we remember the day that we made the choice to become a Christian? I know that in some churches they celebrate when a person makes that choice. When I was a youth minister, every time a teen gave their life to Christ we would celebrate, have a party with a birthday cake, and even a gift (a new Bible).
On August 3rd 1986, I gave my life to Jesus Christ. I will always remember that date and celebrate it.
So, do you remember the date that you gave your life to Christ? When? Where? Who helped you make the choice? Do you celebrate your SPIRITUAL BIRTHDAY? If so, what do you do? How can remembering the event help our faith? If you can't remember the date of your spiritual birthday then can you pick a day that you like and make that day special to God? How can that help us?

I don't have a date but it was around 9/11/2001. I was baptised on 17 February 2008. I won't ever forget the date - it is also my mother's birthday.
It was the last Sunday of 1973. I don't celebrate outwardly but I always remember inside.
I am hopeless with dates - and realised this quite a few years too late to remember the date.
However I think remembering every day is a different option - as it helps us to give ourselves to God every day with a fresh start - having given the day before to Him before sleeping and then waking up with a new day ahead of us with all the mistakes and new things we can learn that day...
I gave my life to Christ 2 years ago. I agree with thoughts of a person on a journey that everyday should be celebrated as a day that God has given us to make a difference in the world and build on that reltionship with Him. Thank you God for today!

I was baptized at the age of 12 and ironically it was on Valentine's Day. I posted about that day a few months back.
I'm glad you asked the question. That event is a part of your story and sharing your story with others (even if it's seems like a dull one) helps others see the importance it has in your life.

April 19, 1998. yes we do celebrate it. I remember my good friend James asking me how long I had been thinking about it and I told him 3 months. It all started when a friend invited us to a Bible study. I think that remembering the day that I was born into the family is very important, because I always end up looking back and seeing His guidance and blessing in everyday of my life. and that assures me that He will continually bless me now and as many days as he allows me to be here.
October 31, 1982. I celebrate every year by having all the folks around dress in costume and go door to door begging for candy.
No really, I was batised on Halloween but didn't realize it at the time. It wasn't until a week later that I realized the actual date. (Halloween wasn't celebrated on Sunday back in the 80's we did the trick or treat thing on Saturday if Halloween fell on a Sunday so I did't realize it was actually Halloween).
I do celebrate this day each year. It is more important to me than my actual birthday in June.
Yea we should and one of my children was baptised into the family on her physical birthday, but remembering the day that we accepted Christ is more difficult than actual baptismal dates, that are documented. Even this child who was baptised on her birthday had given her life to Christ years before and her parents made her wait till she was old enough to understand to make public confession and be baptised. Bad parents! However it is such a wonderful thought, maybe for those of us unable to document the date we could have a family celebration once a year for all who have gave their lives to Christ. We bake a cake for Jesus at Christmas, just as a reminder to all our extended family that we are celebrating Jesus.

I think I was 12 or 13. Not sure when the date was. I have learned to celebrate my walk with Christ as often as I can, I do so by fellowshiping with fellow disciples and spending time in the Words of Christ. Everyday is a celebration!!!No matter what "kind" of day I face. Some days it's a small celebration and some it's a larger one.
Just a perception of how we look at the Christian walk. If we look at it this was, life may be a bit easier to deal with.

Oh yes! I remember being baptized in February 1996. Every year on February 17, I think about it and am thankful. I also remember the song "Holy Lord" which was sung by my friends! Every time I hear that song, or read Romans 6, I remember!
I became a follower of Christ on August 18, 1985. I remember it every year, but I don't have any special way of celebrating.
I made a public confession of my faith in Jesus 48 years ago. He is faithful who called you from darkness to light, from death to eternal life.
Just for something to think about... "Eternal" life is not measured by time is it? I think of it as time with both ends knocked out but that analogy is very weak because the fullness of it, the depth and width of it is beyond language's ability to describe it.

1983 but I can't remember the date. No doubt there is power in remembering special dates and events in our lives. I guess I'll have to pick a date.
Yes. I believe there is value in remembering special days such spiritual birthdays. I especially try to remember to say something to my children where their's roles around each year.

i am not really sure, so i guess i will have to celebrate every day just to make sure that i don't miss it.
31-10-1979 - the journey began, I remember it, I don't celebrate it as I haven't been asked to, everyday has become a celebration of NEW LIFE!!
October 22 or 23, a Monday, 1973. By myself, the Spirit working on me for some time through the witness of the word and the gospel from my mother, Billy Graham, and the Mennonite church I grew up in.
Used to remember that every year, but kind of faded to me now. As I think now it's not so important as to when one thinks they became new in Jesus, but whether or not we are walking in faith in Jesus, today.
But no knock at all against all who enjoy celebrating it!
On July 6th, 1997 was the day I died. I always remember it. It is a time of reflection, but no party yet. Maybe I will for the 20 anniversery.

Interesting topic today. I was baptized 51 years ago. I remember the day and event well, but have no idea what the date was.
I'm with those commenters who try to celebrate each and every day we are given in this life. Each one is a gift from the Lord.

I was baptized into Christ on September 23, 1973 by George Riley in Chula Vista, CA at the Palomar St. congregation. I met George and Helen Riley's son and daughter, Frank and Joy, at Pepperdine. George and Helen very subtly taught me, George baptized me, and Helen encouraged me to become a preacher. I have been serving ever since. God has taken better care of me than I deserve but that's what grace is all about.
All of these testimonies are wonderful.
