Creation or Evolution?
I have always thought that people make more out of this issue than what it really is. I have heard people say that the way you view the world being created affects even one's salvation? So does it really matter? Who do you think? Do you believe in a literal 7 day creation described in Genesis? If so were the days 7 literal days or not? Or do you believe in evolution? Why or why not? Can one be a Christian and believe in evolution? Is it a "salvation issue"? Do you think people have focused on this topic and distracted for more important topics and issues that need to be focused on? Is it embarrassing that Christians have taken such a militant stance on creation? What do you think? Share your thoughts.

The issue is not theistic evolution vs theistic creation.
The issue is atheistic evolution vs theistic creation.
"So does it really matter?"
Yes, it matters. In most public schools, evolution is taught as an absolute and scientific creationist views and those who are Christians who accept Genesis on face value are poo-poo'ed by science teachers, many of whom are known atheists.
"Who do you think (is correct)?"
neither is totally correct or incorrect. They are opinions (theories) as no one except God was present at the moment the universe began, or during the creation that followed. Most theories on both sides have a corresponding scientifically valid argument from the other side, just like in politics!
"Do you believe in a literal 7 day creation described in Genesis? If so were the days 7 literal days or not?"
Yes
There is valid scientific evidence of evolution/adaptation inside of species, which allows the species to change and adapt but still remain the same species. However, there is still no valid, conclussive scientific proof of evolution within a species that causes different species to come into existence and the originating species to cease existing. All so called proof is in the eye of the beholder based on similar characteristics.
"Can one be a Christian and believe in evolution? Is it a "salvation issue"? "
Yes, I believe they can and, no, I do not see it as a salvation issue for those who can live with this view without loosing their faith.
"Do you think people have focused on this topic and distracted for more important topics and issues that need to be focused on?"
Yes.
"Is it embarrassing that Christians have taken such a militant stance on creation?"
No. I can understand it considering the attacks made on creationists by the evolutionary side, especially among the atheistis scientists and their supporters. However, when we stoop to their level we are no better than they are. Unfortunately the government is on the side of the atheistic scientific community, which seems to aggrevate the militancy among creationists.
"What do you think?"
I'll let two leading scientists kind of demonstrate my thoughts via this You Tube video.

Dr. Russell Humphreys, along with Dr. John Baumgardner, discuss the creation cosmology, first described in the "Starlight and Time" book and video, having a basis in scripture and Einstein's theory of relativity to explain how distant starlight could reach the earth from the depths of space during the six days of creation week.
Baumgardner not only holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics, but he is employed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, one of the most prestigious research institutes in the country. He has developed a program called TERRA that models plate tectonics (the drift of "continental plates," sections of the earth's crust that float on the magma beneath. Dr Humphreys retired from Sandia in 2001 to work full-time for the Institute for Creation Research (ICR) where he was appointed an Associate Professor of Physics. Dr. Humphreys has proposed a theory for the universe and time that is based on Einstien's Relativity that is still being researched.
This topic is a moot point that distracts from the essential, or “the one thing needed,” which is to know the Lord, to develop a relationship with the risen Christ.
Well said Debra... My perspective: God created everything in this universe... but what many don't take into account is that "7 days" is not a 24 hour day as we know it now... it was more like thousands of years... There may have been indeed "evolution" - but God created it.
Good point Bob.
Evolution is a lie, because they don't want to admit that there is an intelligent creator behind all that you can see and the invisible.
Evolutionists say there is no God and everything came into being by a big bang.
A big bang?
It would be the same as to say that the Oxford Dictionary came into being by an explosion in the printing factory.
The truth is that the Lord Jesus Christ created the world in six days and on the seventh day He rested.
Yes, six literal days!
It was evening and it was morning, the first day.
It was evening and it was morning, the second day.
It was evening and it was morning, the third day etc.
A day has only one evening and one morning and one year has 365 evenings and 365 mornings, therefore it means six literal days.

Is there any reason to conclude that when God created the heavens and the Earth it was a silent or quiet event? How does "Big Bang" conflict with creation?
It can always detract from important issues when people take a militant stance on any issue. Militant stances among Christians is what I find embarrassing.
I'm sure there are many different opinions along the spectrum from strict 24 hour 7 day creation to complete trust in the theory of evolution. No. I don't think it is a salvation issue.
I believe in theistic evolution.
Ellen W.
You are right, it's not a salvation issue.
The big bang theory states that there is no intelligent designer (person) behind that which you can see and that which you cannot see.
If you believe in the Lord, then you cannot walk in the middle of the road, you ought to say what the Lord said, you do not have the right to believe what you like to believe and have you own interpretation.
Jesus said, that nothing came into being apart from Him, everything was created by Him, for Him and through Him, whether powers or principalities in heaven or on earth, everything was designed and made by the Lord Jesus alone (John 1:3-5).
That opposes the evolution theory, that everything came through millions of years into being.
Anyone who believes the evolution theory has both a spiritual problem and an intellectual problem.
Kind regards
Paul
Have you ever thought, why did the Lord Jesus used six days to create the world?
He could have created the world in a twinkle of an eye.
Why six days, and why did He rested on the seventh day?
Did He get tired? :)
