Don't Worry? Really?

Jesus said, "Do not worry." So, do you think Jesus ever worried? Jesus wasn't married, didn't have children so worrying about wife and kids wouldn't effect Jesus. Jesus didn't have have debt that we read about in scripture so worries or finances wouldn't effect Jesus. So, what would Jesus worry about? Or did he? Does lack of certain life experiences change or influence one's view on worry? Is it fair to say don't worry to someone when the one saying it doesn't understand or has experienced those life situations which cause worry in others lives?

What do you think?

  1. I sometimes think that that one of the best synonyms for faith is risk. And, in a sense, there is a bit of worry involved when we risk. In contrast there is no worry when we are in control and play it safe.

That said I think that it is incumbent on us to do the things that build up our faith and enable us to conquer anxiety, worry and fear. The verse that challenges me most in this area is this one in Philippians:

"The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

I do not see this as a formula to be chanted but an invitation to pray and trust the Lord when things seem so out of control.

  2. Jesus never worried at any time because He is the Lord God the Almighty come in flesh.

Imagine; Lazarus in the tomb, Jesus is calling the dead, decaying and bound man to come forth.
Do you think that Jesus was worried that Lazarus might not come out of the tomb?

Worry is the absence of faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Worry is the gauge of how little we believe and trust in Gods Word (Bible).

The disciples of Jesus were worried that the boat might sink in the storm, so they woke Jesus saying, 'Lord, save us! We're going to drown!'.
Jesus said, "You of little faith why are you worried?" And then He rebuked the Storm.
    Do likewise.
