Pray For Our Troops
"There is a time for everything ,
and a season for every activity
under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to up root,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace." Ecclessiasties 3:1-8
Whatever your view is of the war, we must support our troops.
Please, keep them in your prayers daily.
Remember that it is someones grandson, granddaughter, husband, wife, son, daughter, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, cousin, best friend, and most of all American.
Do you have any loved ones in the military overseas, in the war, Iraq or Afganistan?
Share if you would like how it feels knowing that other Christians are praying for you and loved one.
If you would like share how you have been bless by the church while they have been gone.
If you would like share how you have felt the strength that God provides during times of seperation.
I want you to know you are not alone God is with you and I and many other Christians around the world are in daily prayer for your loved one.
God bless them and your family for what they are doing.

Thanks preacherman. This is a much needed perspective.
Alan,
Thanks for your comments. I have family and my brother best friend is going back over a third time this next week.
Preacherman, I know this is a sensitive subject. but no we don't have to support what the military is doing in the mid east, yes the rank and file have to do what they are told to do, and I feel sorry for those who have to perform against their own inner conscience. But that said I am deffinatly against being in Iraq and If you could get a true poll from our military they would be with me. Already 65% of the public wants our people home and out from between a civil war that has simmered for thousands of years. We had no excuse for going in and no excuse for staying.
You said "God bless them and your family for what they are doing." I agree God bless our soldiers and their family for their sacrafice; but not what they are doing, or ordered to do by Washington DC.
If this God-forsaken was goes on much longer our troops will be treated as if they were to blame when they return with no limbs and a scattered and torn conscience. Just like the war of my time Viet Nam. may God Bless
BTW Pm I have two grandsons who were in the inital "SHOCK and AWE"
both marines in 2nd Div. both are home "Thank God" neither have come to me amd said we did a good thing, just the opposite.
Laymond,
I when the "shock and awe" happened I prayed for your grandsons. I thank God that he kept them safe. I pray for the same safty of these men and women who are serving today and for thier families.
One country's "shock-n-awe" is another's terrorism. Shock-n-awe is not the Kingdom Way.
Pray for our enemy as well as our troops. Pray for those our troops kill. And pray that our troops come home.
Read the post on Stoned Campbells blog with the prayer of Anselm. Worth a look.
Shalom.
Laymond and Messianic Gentile,
I don't think you are getting my point. The point I am trying to making in my point no matter how we feel about the war we still need to be praying for the safty for are men and women and their families. Alot of times we for go about our day as Christians and forget to mention them in prayer to God. While the media and others are focusing on ending the war, focus' on different agenda's and when they announce that so many soldiers died this week: that those are someones, grandsone, granddaughter, son, daughter, niece, nephew, uncle, aunt, best friend, and most of all American. We as Christians need to encourage our military families to let them know that we are in prayer for them. We need to let them know that we are there for them if they need us.
God bless you, Preacher. Have a good day!
I lost a cousin in the war. The loss has touched me too deeply personally. I fully understand praying for the troops.
I once watched CBS Sunday Morning where they ended the day saying, "We normally end our broadcast with a look at some of God's Creatures... We are doing that today, only different from the usual." Then they showed American soldiers in the sand cleaning weapons as they stood their post in Saudi at Desert Shield on '90 (I think it was). A very sensitive look at a man with an M16! And true.
All the same... I hear people say to "pray for our troops ALL THE TIME!" There really is no shortage of people promoting that, actually. I live in TEXAS where that is normal procedure, really. And yet it represents a civil religion rather than Christian. And so I make a practice of telling those who wish to pray for our troops to be Christian about it and pray for our enemies too. That is an essential part of what makes us uniquely Christian.
Your post lacks that. I added it.
Jesus is Lord!!!
Josh,
I hope you have a great day too brother!

Messianic Gentile,
I appreciate your comments and adding to the discussion. I know that it is hard for people do especially during times of war. Thanks for the reminder and challenging us to do that which is hard.
Good post. Now that I have a son I realize that there's a possibility he could go to war someday, so it makes me respect and appreciate all the more the sacrifice made by the troops and their families.
