Is It The Beginning of WWIII
You can't help but hear about it on the news. Israel's at war Hezbalah. Syria may join the fight. If Syria joins the fight it won't be long before Iran will want to join in on the action. And if Iran joins in then America will take side with Israel. And if America joins in what about Russian and China? What side will Russia and China Take? Then there's N. Korea.
Could this war be the beginning of WWIII?
Should we be more concerned?
Should the U.S. be doing more than what they are doing to bring a cease fire?
What do you think? Could this be the war that starts it all? Let me know your thoughts on all this.

WWIII could happen. There are some parallels to WWII- an aggressive enemy bent on destruction- Europe caving into them at every turn- the governments of the US and England seemingly the only ones (besides Israel of course) really alarmed about all of this...
But as we are finding out in Iraq- it is not quite as easy to locate and engage the enemy as it was in the 1940s.
If there will be WWIII it will be unlike any other war before.
Danny,
I agree if there will be WWIII it will be unlike any other ware before.
As Albert Einstien when asked about the next world war, "I can say that I don't know what weapons will be used but I know that after that war the next will be fought with stones."
I look at the destruction going on in Lebanon and it sadens me how Israel is treating innocent women and children.
It is hard to see all the distruction and death on TV, but that is war. I don't know if this is just an excuse for them to fight. All of this over 2 soldiers. I have even heard reports that they have been bombing Lebanon so much that many of families haven't been able to even barry their loved ones. Dog eating the bodies. Human rights organizations reporting that because of distruction to bridges and roads that getting for and medicine to those who need is nearly impossible.
There have always been wars and rumors of wars. God is in control.
How is the reading coming?
Shalom,
Bobby Valentine
I hope WWIII doesn't happen in my lifetime, but chances are there will be at least one large WW while I'm alive.
It all goes back to Abraham, Hagar & Ishmael.
Preacherman:
First, thanks for all the encouragement to keep writing my blog. I have a series called Tales of the Truck that's coming soon. Watch for it.
Second, a comment on your recent post. It's hard to predict how the mid-east conflict will play out. It's a terrible situation and something must be done, but I don't know there will ever be a lasting peacce as long as the philosophies of both sides remain what they are.
I wonder what it is going to take to get the U.S. or the U.N. or any world power to do something about Darfur. This is another Rwanda taking place and it is virtually ignored. Is that because it doesn't have the same thrill of Holy War? The situation in Darfur and Sudan look bad and I am amazed at how challenging it is to even dig up good reporting on the conflict.
I believe that this may be the beginning. I don't know that for sure, but it is very possible. Only God knows and is in control. I just know that when we went into Iraq, I felt in my heart that there would be continuous wars. I had a feeling like WW3 would happen soon. But who knows. We just need to stay in prayer.
Preacher,
If you have time, don't forget to check out this week's Battle of the Bands at Gabbatha! This week features a new band Dropping Daylight to take on The Fray.
It truly is sad the destruction and toll of human life in the middle east. Unfortunately this has been going on for decades and doesn't seem to have an end anytime soon. I'm convinced the Lord is in control and will work even through the horrific scenes that plaster the TV secnes to his ultimate purpose. We have to pray for those involve and put our trust in the one who can truly bring change.
Preacherman,
(From 1989 -a bit dated, but still true as ever) A quote:
Sometime ago, when the United States bombed military and civilian targets in Libya, a debate raged concerning the morality of the act. One of us witnessed an informal gathering of students who argued the morality of the bombing of Libya. Some thought that it was immoral, others thought it was moral. At one point in the argument, one of the students turned and said, “Well, preacher, what do you think?”
I said that, as a Christian, I could never support bombing, particularly bombing of civilians, as an ethical act.
“That’s just what we expected you to say,” said another. “That’s typical of you Christians. Always on the high moral ground, aren’t you” You get so upset when a terrorist guns down a little girl in an airport, but when President Reagan tries to set things right, you get indignant when a few Libyans get hurt.”
The assumption seems to be that there are only two political options: Either conservative support of the administration, or liberal condemnation of the administration followed by efforts to let the U.N. handle it.
“You know, you have a point,” I said, “What would be a Christian response to this?” Then I answered, right off the top of my head, “A Christian response might be that tomorrow morning The United Methodist Church announces that it is sending a thousand missionaries to Libya. We have discovered that it is fertile field for the gospel. We know how to send missionaries. Here is at least a traditional Christian response.”
“You can’t do that,” said my adversary.
“Why?” I asked. “You tell me why.”
“Because it’s illegal to travel in Libya. President Reagan will not give you a visa to go there.”
“No! That’s not right,” I said. “I’ll admit that we can’t go to Libya, but not because of President Reagan. We can’t go there because we no longer have a church that produces people who can do something this bold. But we once did.”
We would like a church that again assert that God, no nations, rules the world, that the boundaries of God’s kingdom transcend those of Caesar, and that the main political task of the church is the formation of people who see clearly the cost of discipleship and are willing to pay the price.
