Singing Praises to God

I enjoy last Wed. night of the month. It is a time where our congregation gets together and sings priases to God. We learn some new songs, sing praise songs and sing the songs we grew up on. I love it.
I am planning on teaching a few new songs tonight maybe We Shall Assemble and Lamb of God.
I love those two songs.
I am also going to lead some of the old hymns that I grew up with like When All God's Singers Get Home, Hand in Hand with Jesus, I'll Fly Away, Count Your Blessings, and maybe even sing 728b one of my favorites.
It is wonderful when God's people sing to him. Singing glorifies God and builds us up and strengthens us as well.
The wonderful thing is we can sing whenever and wherever we are.
When you are down sing a song.
When your happy sing a song of praise. Singing effects our thoughts and behavior. Singing reminds us why and to whom we worship. God.
What are some of your favorite songs to God?
James 5:13 "Is anyone of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise." NIV.
I hope you have a blessed day.

  1. Preacherman, Thanks for your comment left on my blog tonight. I am new to this thing of blogging but am enjoying it so far.
Grew up in Abilene, huh? Your blog does not give your age but I know others with ties to Abilene.
Max Lucado - married to my cousin
Robert Alexander - my grandfather was a teacher there long ago, really long.

So, anyway. I love your blog too. So many posts! I chose to comment on this one because of the subject.

I love music. I like the modern worship music but find the most inspiration and greatest comfort in the old hymns and songs out of the old hymnals. Is it because I just have known them all my life? I don't think so. I really enjoyed singing the "youth songs" my youth group sang in the early 70's. But in recent years I have really come to appreciate the older ones.

Hey...I am sure we will run into each other again. I need to go to be right now!!

    Thanks again for your note.
