On the Christian calendar what is Good Friday. Why do they call it good Friday. What is so good about it. Why not bad Friday, and instead of Easter, Great Sunday.

  1. A good question Kinney!
It surely wasn't a good day for the Lord Jesus.
They say that He was crucified on Friday late after noon and then was in the tomb for three days and three nights and rose early Sunday morning.

How on earth can they fit three days and three nights, from Friday to Sunday?

    Hm! That beats me:-o
Perhaps it might be the same as "three persons equal one God".

    What are they thinking?
Instead of calling it bad Friday; we might call it 'Deception Day'!
    Just a thought! :-)

  2. So I read this was thought, Is this some kind of joke? "Good" just means "holy," as in "Holy Friday." The "Passion Week" (or "Holy Week") also has "Maundy Thursday" (or "Holy Thursday") and "Holy Saturday" all convey the same meaning. You're reading too much into this.

We call it Good Friday because it is good that Jesus died on the cross for our sins...yes it seems bad because he died but think about why Jesus dying for our sins is good and you will understand the meaning of the day.

The power elite use stealth to teach everyone to hate Jesus Christ. Learn about your Christian heritage from the experts and not from anti-Christs on the internet.

You know, I'm going to do some double checking, to make sure scripture supports this thought, so I may stand corrected afterward.

But off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure my bible says Christ predicted, like Jonah in the belly of the whale, Christ would be in the belly of the earth 3 days and 3 nights.

I'm pretty sure my bible says this is what happened. I'm positive my bible says He arose on the first day of the week. The women went to the tomb at sunrise, but the bible does not say Christ arose at sunrise like tradition teaches.

But at this point, I can't recall any scripture that says the crucifixion was on Friday?? Maybe that's where Paul's question needs to be considered.

Maybe Friday is something that Man has wrong, and Scripture has been right all along!

This blog spot doesn't allow for enough room to explain, but the Good Friday is a Jewish holiday, not a scriptural explanation of the day of crucifixion.

Also, we start our days at midnight. They started days back then after dark, (or around 6pm) the "previous" night in our way of thinking.

    Maybe this will help you!
It may not be 100% accurate, but certainly is close!
