Paul and Jesus

How much does the apostle Paul mention Jesus? Why does Paul not talk or reference or mention Jesus ministry, miracles, life hardly at all? Does Paul even quote or reference Jesus when talking about the Church, kingdom, marriage, how to treat others, etc? Why is that? Did Paul know Jesus when Jesus was alive? Why does the church focus so much on Paul's letters with so little reference to Jesus? Do you agree or disagree?

  1. Paul only preached the Lord Jesus Christ and nobody else, just the same as we all.
    Or do you think that there is somebody else to preach?
    Perhaps Jesus plus another God! :-)

    Churches today have this weird concept that what they read in the Bible is the word of Paul.
    But the Bible is called the Word of God and not the word of Paul.
    The Word of God is the Word of Jesus Christ our Lord and God, so then it is Jesus who is speaking to you and not Paul.
    Example;
    If you preach by the Spirit of God, then it is not you who speaks to the Church, but it is Christ in you who is speaking through your mouth to the Church.

  2. Good questions Kinney! I wonder if Paul was in the crowds when Jesus taught or if he was in Jerusalem when he was condemned by Pilate?

    I think that Paul's writings are complimentary to the gospel accounts. I suspect that he did not see a need to quote Jesus as others were already doing that. His letters were addressed to specific people/churches and often addressed issues that were specific to what was happening in their lives.

    That said I do think that Jesus and his message is all over Paul's writings.
