Secular Christianity (?)

I recently heard the term "secular Christianity". If you could define "secular Christianity" how would you define it? Is there such a thing as "secular Christianity"? What does it look like? Is Christianity influenced by secular society? If so, how? Should it? If so why? If not why not?

What do you think?

  2. Oops. Hit "publish" to soon. David Dark also said, "Spirituality never enters a conversation. It is always already there." I agree.

I think it is Christianity that has a been influenced by secular society. Should it be? I think not. I think we as Christians should inluence instead of being influenced. Christianity in many ways has become worldly. Ungodly. That is "secular Christianity".

The Church and Christians should be in the world. Influencing the world. How can we do that if we are not secular?

  5. Maybe refering to a worldly kind of Christianity. A Christianity that has been molded and shaped by society instead of Christ. A Christian that has lost influence. I do think Christiantiy shouldn't isolate itself. We need to keep up the times. Be relavent.

  6. I know that "secular clergy" refers to deacons, married priests, etc. (i.e., those living in the secular world) while "regular clergy" belonged to religious orders. I suppose then "secular Christianity" would describe how Christians behave in the real world, as opposed to how they behaved in church.
