Kinney's Sick Again

Kinney will be out again for a little while. He is in the hospital again and has been since Sunday evening.

He has been getting pneumonia on and off for the past 2 or 3 months. I have been out of town for a month trying to take a class at A.C.U. He came to Abilene for the 4th and to get the boys and I to bring us back home. The day we were to leave I touched his arm and he was burning with fever.

We took him back to his parents house. He took a nap and some fever medicine and woke of without a fever and said he was fine. He assured us that he would be alright to drive his car back to Rocksprings and that he could preach Sunday. He had an unproductive cough the entire night. It worried me so much that I woke him up to put pillows to elevate him so he could breathe better. He wanted to wait until Monday or Tuesday to go to the doctor.

The next day he preached and seemed really weak. He asked someone to sub for him for the evening service. After lunch, he went to bed and slept all afternoon. He woke a couple of times and went to sleep again. He woke up again after my 2 littlest ones were asleep and was stumbling and lethargic. He had a fever and began talking like he ws out of his mind. I dressed him and packed, called my friend in Kerrville to meet us to take my kids. I managed to load him and the kids in the car (we still have a wheelchair).

He mumbled nonsense the entire way. My great friends had things set up so that he could go directly to the E.R. with wheelchair waiting. He was admitted. He had a high fever and a higher pulse. The chest x-ray confirmed a bad case of pneumonia. We spent the entire night in the E.R.

At 8 the next morning, he was taken to I.C.U. He slowly drifted back from la-la land. He has had several migraines and they thought that he might be relapsing with his Guillain-Barre Syndrome, but luckily that isn't the case. He is in a regular room now. We think the reason he is having a hard time getting over pneumonia is because of his weakness in his trunk from the GBS, but we also have another problem.

He has lost 25% of his blood volume and is severely anemic. He is having a colonoscopy and EGD tomorrow. The doctor says that he thinks it's probably a bleeding ulcer and/or a tear in his colon. Pray that that's all it is. Pray that it's not the c-word. They didn't even mention the possibility. I think to spare our feelings since it's not likely in someone of his age.

Anyway, that's the latest. Please pray.
Thanks, Mrs. Preacherman

    Oh, I forgot.

A little 4 year old boy died the night Kinney was in the E.R. I was there to see his poor little body covered and waiting to be taken.

Please pray for his family. I can't imagine their pain.

I know how that family feels... and it is hell.

In spite of your compassion, you just concentrate on your sweet preacherman and his getting better, dear mrs. preacherman. That is a big enough worry for you. We are all praying for him... and for you.

Thank you for keeping us posted.

    John,

I know that I need to concentrate on Kinney, but I just can't seem to turn my heart off. I don't know if it's a woman thing or a Jesus thing, but maybe it's a little of both.

I hurt for you, too and I know what real hurt is, believe me, but I don't think I could bear what you and yours are having to go through now.

Just know that you are loved.

We are praying for all of you.

I was actually coming by this morning to ask Kinney to add our family to his prayers. My wife's grand father pased away yesterday morning (7/8/08). Our two kids were his only great-grandkids and the three of them were extreemly close. Thank you in advance for your prayers and concern but please concentrate on taking care of Kinney and the kids.

    We love yall.

  22. I am very sorry to hear that Kenny is ill again. My prayer is that he will soon be over this episode and continuing to heal.

May God's peace rest upon you, dear wife, and the kids. What a trooper you are! And what an example you two are for the rest of us who observe you at a distance as you endure pain and suffering with faith, dignity, and hope.

    His peace,
    Royce

I read this post late last night and didn't comment then, but certainly thought about and kept you and Kinney in my prayers after I went to bed (here at my mom's in Abilene).

I am SO sorry Kinney is so sick and know that it must be extremely difficult for both you and the family AND him. I pray (and have prayed and WILL pray) that God be closely with you all and grant Kinney good health as soon as possible.

Please keep us up with what all is going on as you have the time to do so. I know that you already had a grueling schedule to keep up with in trying to finish your degree. I pray that the Lord be with you as you continue just a few more months so that you may finish and graduate.

Take care and rest as much as you can so that you will be able to bear the additional burdens on your life.

Much love and many prayers to you all!

    Dee

  39. Mrs Preacherman, I pray for you and yours. I always enjoy coming and reading his blogs & he always leaves kind comments on mine. Please tell him he is being prayed for and thought about as are you.

The Lord is in control. The Lord. And everything is possible for HIM. Keep praying, stand firm and strong.

I had a tumor in my chest in 2003. The doctor in the ER named five things it could be. I have a friend who is a doctor and he said if in those five things the "c" is not mentioned then it most likely is not something they are thinking of.....so I am speaking optimistically in saying that maybe---its the same for all doctors......
