Acts Of Random Kindness

I just bought Evan Almighty on DVD and of course loved it. The message that the movie had we as wonderful. How would you change the world? One person at a time. One random act of kindness at a time. Wow. Sounds like Christianity doesn't it? Imagine how the world would change if each one of us as Christians would do one random act of kindness this week. Or not just this week but we looked for the door of opportunity that God opens daily and do it. Show mercy to those who need it. Show God's love to others. Show God's kindness to those in need. My challenge for you is to look for those doors and to be the workman that God has called in advance for you to do. (Eph. 2:10) Let us be motivated by the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Have you had someone show you a random act of kindness? How did effect your life?
Again, my challenge is to look for the open door this week. Would you like to share with us the open door that God has opened for you?

What do you think?

  3. In The Divine Conspiracy, Dallas Willard says that because kindness finds its true source in God, it can never be random. Chaos is random. Kindness is always a sign of gracious choosing, and that means order.

I don't know if that matters to the discussion at all.

  8. I heard Rick Warren interviewed on the radio about a year ago. He was talking about the large HIV/AIDS conference that was held at the Saddleback Church. In the interview, he said that God's kindness leads to repentance (echoing Paul's words in Romans), and that God often uses Christians to lead others to repentance through acts of kindness. His insight changed my way of thinking in many ways. Now I look for ways to show kindness instead of ways to be critical (not that I am not critical at times when it seems appropriate). I want to be in on leading people to repentance through kindness.

    Thanks for a good post!

  18. As I read in Roman's 2:4 this morning God's Kindness is mean to lead us to repentance. Just for us to think on this weekend as we respond and act on the kindness that God has showed us.
Let us show God kindness to all men especially those who belong to the household of faith.
So when you God to Church on

Sunday, my challenge to you is do a "Random Act of Kindess" to someone. Look for the opportunity at church this Sunday. Whether it be holding the door open, saying an encouraging word, giving a hug, inviting someone over for lunch, our out to eat, volunteering to go take communion to shut-ins, and on and on. God will provide the doors if you look hard enough

a act of kindness... i like the word you used, opportunity...it has come up several times to me today. more like, if a thought of complaint or discouragement or even a bit of wrong thinking can be an opportunity to change it to something that would glorify God. like a view of something in a bad light when i could look at it in a good light, thinking the worst of someone when i don't know the facts, being grateful instead of angry and complaining, being loving when i would rather be cranky or mean. opportunities, for acts of kindness. and all these examples are small exercises for when something that might seem harder comes along in my journey or walk of following the master and savior. when those times come along...to be able to rejoice in the opportunity to be a witness for Christ, which is what all acts of kindness are showing. that i belong to God.

    you are loved
    you are precious to God

and you are a good witness for Christ, dear brother
