The Power You Have In Christ

Have you ever just thought about who you are in Christ Jesus and the power that you have in Christ?
Consider these scriptures:
2 Timothy 2:7 "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but of power, of love and of self-discipline."
Philippians 4:13 "I can do everything through him who gives me strength."
1 John 4:4, "You, dear children, are from God and have over come them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."
Romans 8:37-39 "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Do we understand that God is for us? We have the Holy Spirit living within us to help us in life. How does the Holy Spirit living within us give us not a spirit of timidity but of power, love and self-discipline? How does it give us the strength we need in times of trouble? How does it feel to know that God has made us more than conquerors? How does it feel knowing that you have something within you that his greater than he who is in the world? How should that make us feel as Christians? The Church?

What do you think?

  1. “Victorious.” I used to think that the phrase “victorious living” was a bit hokey. As I age and the reminders you gave us through God’s Word remind me of the power we have, not of ourselves and not for our glory but of God and for his Glory.

  2. "Empowered", with the Holy Spirit within and the strength of the Creator of the Universe and the saving blood of Messiah, nothing I face is too big!

  3. The disciples were given the great commission and then told to "wait" until they were empowered by the promised Holy Spirit. They waited and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and thousands were saved. A few days later they were again "filled" with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus never performed a miracle, never healed a sick person, until the Holy Spirit came upon Him at the time of His baptism.

Paul talks again and again about being strong in "the power of His might".

Jesus said "the flesh profits nothing" and that is still true. Only what is done in the power of the Holy Spirit will have results for time and for eternity.

Paul commanded, "Be ye being filled with the Holy Spirit". Not a one time event but a continual emptying of ourselves and surrendering to Him so that He controls every area of our lives.

    Grace to you,

  4. Full of hope and never alone. There is nothing that is too big or too great for God. The problem is we sometimes get caught up in the moment and forget that. Thanks for the reminder! Blessings!

  5. I love the verse that tells me that, "He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. According to His power that is at work with in us..."

Power that is at work with in me??? Wow...

  7. I love this one because it tells us that because He is in us we can and will be glorious:

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. (Col 1:27)

  9. To be honest, like Timothy, I need to be reminded often that the Spirit is with me and that he is working in powerful ways in my life. Thanks for the reminder.

  10. I'm pretty works-oriented myself. It's a sad fact. Too often I think I need to be sinless in order to boldly approach the throne of grace.

Thanks for the reminder of my true identity.

  11. The part of it that amazes me the most is the TRANSFORMING power of Christ and His Spirit in us. The whole idea blows my mind really...the Almighty Creator of the universe, the I AM, not only created us, but He loves us enough to want us to be like Him! So He gives us His Spirit to transform us into His likeness...I love that idea, and the idea of us being His masterpiece.

How great is God—beyond our understanding! The number of his years is past finding out.

    From Job 36

God bless you and your family, preacherman!

  13. Good post. It's always good to be reminded where we're good--and it's only through Christ. It's also where we're at our best. Too often we miss it (I know I do).
