New Books I AM Reading

Here are some new books I am reading:
Kingdom Come: Embracing the Spiritual Legacy of David Lipscomb and James Harding by John Mark Hicks and Bobby Valentine
I just started it.

Others:
The Real Heaven: It's Not What You Think by Joe Beam and Lee Wilson

Anything written by Gary Holloway, I have loved reading. He is one of my favorites. I bought two books by him and looking forward to reading both.
The first is:
Living in God's Love: An Invitation to Christian Spirituality by Gary Holloway and Earl Lavendar
And:
A Meditative Commentary on The New Testament: Romans and Galtians "The Spirit of Jesus" by Gary Holloway.

Have any of you read these books? What did you think? What did you enjoy about them? Let me know what you think?

  1. Might I suggest links to the books you mention?

I read Kingdom Come by Hicks and Valentine. I enjoyed it very much. I gave a critique on Grace Centered Magazine's message board on the book.

Bobby and I go way back on that book.

  2. Oh, Living God's Love has always intrigued me, I almost purchased it at Tulsa this year, but I never get to the bottom of my stack so I can buy it.

  3. Darin,
You can suggest links to the books.
I am enjoying Kindom Come. I would love to read your Grace Centered Magazine.
    What is their link?

As I mentioned anything by Gary Holloway I have found inspiring. He has a way of making the scripture come to life and a very applicable way. His book on proverbs was amazing.

    Thanks for your comments.
I will let you know what I tink of Living God's Love.

  4. It is on the side of my blog. Bobby and I had a running discussion on the merits of looking at Harding and Lipscomb.

He challenged me to read the book. I enjoyed it and gave my feedback.

  5. Darin,

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your comment.

May I suggest another very good book. I just finished "Captured by Grace" by Dr. David Jeremiah. It is loosely based on the lives of Paul, and John Newton who would wrote Amazing Grace.

Two tons of sermon fodder in a small package!

It was good to see you and your family in Abilene. Gotta love the world of blogging, and better yet, seeing those blogging buds in person.

  8. Dwayne,

    Amen brother.
It was so great to see you.
    Shorter than I liked.
Like you said it is great to blog and meet people in person. Feeling that much more closer through bloging.

    I enjoy your blog.
Thanks for stopping by mine and love for you to comment anytime you'd like.

God bless you, your family and ministry.

  9. Preacher, I haven't read any of the books you mentioned, but I'm curious to look into them.

I'm currently reading Return of the Prodigal Son by Henri M Nouwen.

On of my recent favorites is Velvet Elvis by Rob Bell. It's somewhat controversial, but so am I at times.

  11. I have not read Kingdom Come yet, but I work at Biblemart.com and sell it. Actually, we are sold out and I do not have access to a copy yet.

I sold it to our Preacher at Vandelia; He loves it and highly recommends it. I have read a few books that are cited in it -Colossians Remixed and Mere Discipleship for sure. Both excellent books that I highly recommend.

And while you are promoting books, allow me to plug Biblemart one more time. We give 10% discounts on most books and ship all over the US everyday. Shipping for one book normally costs between $2.50 - $2.95. 10% saves $1.50 off a $15 book. Plus, we are a CoC brotherhood bookstore offering much bigger discounts on Bibles, commentaries, and Sunday school curriculum.

I invite your readers to check us out on the web, and give us a call.

I love reading. I can't get enough. Thanks for sharing, and allowing me this shameless promotional.

    Many Blessings...

I hope that everyone gets a change to get a copy of the books I am reading.
I know they are going to be a spiritual boost for my life and hope they are to yours as well.

    Again thanks for your comments.

    God bless everyone.
